Step 1: Setup Cursor
Follow these steps to install the Cursor AI code editor.
Download the Installer

The website should automatically detect your operating system (macOS, Windows, Linux). Download the appropriate installer file.
- macOS: Usually a .dmg file (Universal, Arm64, or x64).
- Windows: Usually a .exe file (x64 or Arm64).
- Linux: Usually an .AppImage file (x86_64 or aarch64).
Run the Installer
macOS Installation
- Double-click the downloaded .dmg file to open it.
- Drag the Cursor application icon into your Applications folder.
- You can now launch Cursor from the Applications folder or Launchpad.
Windows Installation
- Double-click the downloaded .exe file.
- Follow the on-screen prompts in the installer. Default settings are usually fine.
- Once finished, launch Cursor from the Start Menu or Desktop shortcut.
Linux Installation
- Make the AppImage file executable: chmod +x Cursor-linux-*.AppImage
- Run the AppImage file: ./Cursor-linux-*.AppImage
- For easier access, you may want to move the AppImage to a location in your PATH or create a desktop shortcut.
Initial Setup & Login
When you first launch Cursor, you will be guided through several setup steps. Pay attention to these settings:
- Choose keyboard shortcuts (e.g., VS Code compatible).
- Set the AI interaction language (if needed).
- Optionally allow codebase indexing for better suggestions (consider privacy implications if working on sensitive code).
-
Login Account:
- Important: When signing in (using GitHub or Google), always use your corporate email address (e.g., ending in @nstech.com.br or your specific group company domain). This ensures you are associated with the company's plan/license.
-
Data Sharing Settings:
- Important: When presented with "Data Sharing" options, ensure you select Privacy Mode. This setting prevents your code snippets from being collected by Cursor. This is crucial for protecting company code and data.
